TfL's travel awareness campaign, good going, has been working in partnership with the London Cycling Campaign, CTC - the national cyclist's organisation, Sustrans and London Cycle Sport by offering grants in support of community groups holding local rides, events or small scale projects.
In 2005 the £100,000 grant fund provided 36 grants to groups across London. The innovation and successes the grant inspired has led to the scheme being repeated and enlarged to £150,000 for 2006.
The aim of the community grant is to contribute to the resources needed by local groups to hold events or start projects which promote the benefits of cycling in their neighbourhood. And this year, the criteria for funding additionally challenges local groups to address key target groups and issues arising from the most recent market research of attitudes to cycling conducted by Transport for London.
Eligible organisations for the 2006 community grant must be based or operate inside Greater London and fall within the following groups:
- Community groups or clubs;
- Charities or not-for-profit organisations;
- Schools and further education for schemes associated with local community initiatives
The application form and guidance notes are available to download here (see top right) or by contacting the London Cycling Campaign.
London Cycling Campaign is a partner in this scheme. If you have any community cycling related enquiries or require assistance with your bid please contact LCC’s Community Cycling Officer Lucy Davis on 020 7234 9310.
The closing date for the two rounds of funding are:
- Friday 28th April 2006
- Friday 31st July 2006
