Bike Week 2009 - 13th to 21st June
What is Bike Week?
Every year Lime Light Sports organise Bike Week, a nationwide mass participation cycling event. Thousands of people participate in a roster of events.
This year, Bike Week focused on families and getting active with the theme, “Get more out of life: live local, get cycling”.
Events included cycle training and maintenance challenges, races, and local group rides.
Many of the events were free but some also functioned as fundraisers for charitable organisations and and local community groups.
LCC community groups and Bike Week
Every year, the Community Cycling Fund for London and the Active Travel Consortium provide funding for over 50 London based community groups who are encouraged and supported to take part in Bike Week.
This year, Bromley Cylists organised a led ride around the local
parks. For more details, see 'Bromley Cylists' Parks and Ride' below.
MIND in Tower Hamlets invited all participants of their bike activities to cycle to Victoria Park for a picnic in the sun.
New Generation's Cycooldelic Revolution went on a fun ride from Vauxhall to the Southbank. Later on in the week, they also took part in the Tottenham Carnival parade.
