Business gets bike friendly

International and national businesses have just joined London Cycling Campaign’s Corporate Affiliation Scheme. Organisations from all sectors of business have signed up to the benefits of cycling for London. Corporate Affiliates benefit from the wealth of expertise that LCC has built up over the years.

"London Cycling Campaign is helping employers promote cycling and provide facilities for employees who use bikes. This will help business work better in London, making the workforce more healthy, happy and reliable," says Peter Lewis, LCC's Director.

One of the first to join the scheme was property developer Argent Group plc, where half of its staff now ride to work. It provides bike loans, secure cycle parking, showers and lockers to its employees.

Argent Group plc Chief Executive Roger Madelin said, "We want our employees to feel good about coming to work here. That in turn helps to keep them happy and, I'm sure, it gives us an edge in recruiting, too".

Feilden Clegg Bradley partner Geoff Rich says, "Our bikes are indispensable for site visits and meetings; you actually know how long your journey is going to take. When we mention the advantages, other people soon agree".
