Cycle safety passport spreads key campaign messages
LCC launched a cyclist safety ‘passport’ this month encouraging people to get involved with campaigns around three key issues on London’s roads.
Lorry safety, speeding traffic and promoting more confident cyclists have been identified as key to cycle safety. However, the LCC needs more support to make a difference on these issues.
The passport postcards encourage people to take an interest in LCC’s campaigns and sign up to the e-newsletter. LCC is keen to promote the invaluable work it does for cyclists beyond the obvious benefits of membership.
Strong campaigning message about safety
Currently two out of three cyclist fatalities involve HGVs, and in residential areas 20mph speed limits can reduce road casualties by 45%. LCC also wants free cycle training to be made available throughout London.
Lucy Cooper, LCC marketing manager, said: “An LCC membership is every cyclist’s passport to safer streets. As well as providing a fantastic package of membership benefits we also campaign tirelessly to eliminate lorry danger, stop speeding traffic and to encourage safer cyclists.”
The passports are being handed out at cycling events, and anyone interested in signing them can choose to receive the LCC’s biweekly newsletter or find out more about its campaigns.
