Gold for Londoner Bradley Wiggins

In an extraordinary triumph for British cycling Londoner Bradley Wiggins has added an Olympic time trial gold to his yellow jersey in the Tour de France. The medal makes Wiggo Britain’s most be-medalled Olympian. Wiggins’ lieutenant in the Tour, Chris Froome, won a bronze medal with a ride that was just seconds behind the German silver medal winner Tony Martin.
Wiggins’s margin of victory over current world time trial champion, Martin, was an impressive 42 seconds which he gained over the 44 kilometre course . Wiggins was trailing Martin at the first time check but built up his lead over the rest of the course. The roads of South West London were thronged with spectators cheering Wiggo and Froome on to victory. The medal ceremony took place at Hampton Court Palace where the race started and finished.
