Join us for a special summer bike ride suitable for all the family

We're inviting members, friends, and family to join us on Sunday 26 June 2011 for a leisurely social ride from central London along the path of the Thames to historic Greenwich.

The free event is suitable for all ages and abilities, and will bring together cyclists from all our local groups.

The ride meets at 11am at Jubilee Gardens (next to the London Eye) before meandering through Southwark and Lewisham places of interest, finishing at the Greenwich Fair.

Here, riders will have the chance to picnic together and enjoy this great family-friendly event.

The Greenwich Fair draws inspiration from the fairs described by Charles Dickens in Boz, where travelling menageries, dancing booths and other traditional Victorian entertainment drew huge crowds.

We look forward to seeing many of you on the ride...

Hi, I'm a keen Southwark cyclist of the non-lycra, pootle along slowly variety. I also have a badge stall at the Clocktower market on Greenwich High Road (antiques and retro market). I can't be on the ride because I'll be working there in Greenwich but I hope it's not out of order for me to feel part of your day by offering a free bike badge to anyone who comes to my stall on 26th June and says 'Bikes are brilliant'. I have half a dozen designs and you can choose the one you like. Always keen to promote cycling and say hello to cyclists, especially those saying 'Bikes are brilliant', because that's what I think too. Jane
