LCC-associated cycle trainers up for Green Guardian Award
Cyclists are being encouraged to vote for the Pedal4Health cycle-training organisation in the Green Guardian awards.
Pedal4Health, which has strong links to LCC's community cycling team and Merton Cycling Campaign, was founded by cycle trainer Fred Ellis in 2007 with help from the LCC-administered Community Cycling Fund for London.
Pedal4Health has taught thousands of children and adults to cycle, encouraging more sustainable modes of transport across south London.
Improving health using cycle training
It has also worked on innovative schemes to boost public health using cycling in conjunction with the local primary care trusts.
Anyone can email their 'vote' for Pedal4Health to firstname.lastname@example.org, explaining why they deserve their nomination.
The awards, organised by local newspaper publisher Newsquest, and are given to deserving individuals, businesses and organisations in south London that have made a notable contribution to the environment.
Nominated for an LCC award too
The Wheel Thing, Pedal4Health's joint project with Wandsworth PCT was recently a joint runner-up in the London Cycling Award for 'Best cycling initiative for young people'.
