LCC boss presents Tour of Britain trophy

Koy Thomson, chief executive of LCC, presents a trophy to the winner of the London stage of the Tour of Britain

Sunday 7th September saw the Tour of Britain Stage One start in the capital. 

Transport for London Commission for Transport Peter Hendy waved the Union Jack to start the 53-mile Stage One of the Tour of Britain.

Koy Thomson, chief executive of LCC, presented the trophy at the close to the winner, Italian rider Alessandro Petacchi.

Staff and volunteers out in force

LCC staff and volunteers were at their stall on Victoria Embankment giving out info and recruiting members, while spectators enjoyed the thrills and spills of world-class road racing through central London streets.

The race was won in a by a bike length by veteran rider Petacchi, with Briton Brian Hayles coming second.

The race came down to a sprint finish after an eight-man group, who had earlier broken away from the peloton, failed to hold off the pack in the closing laps.

Olympian Bradley Wiggins was one of those who finished in the peloton.
