LCC cycling projects join the elite at TfL's Smarter Travel Awards
Cyclists are left holding the baby in Ealing
Bromley Cyclist’s Big Foot Bike Club project, Ealing Cycling Campaign’s Back on the Bike with children and the Regent’s Park Safer Police Team in partnership with Frank Barnes Schools were all shortlisted for the 2010 awards.
The awards recognises innovative walking and cycling projects and initiatives.
The ceremony was held on Thursday 24 June at the London Transport Museum. Co-hosted by Transport for London's David Brown (Managing Director, Surface Transport) and Ben Plowden (Director, Better Routes and Places), the awards recognised outstanding individuals, projects and campaigns in 12 categories that have positively changed the way people travel.
The event was attended by over 250 people, all associated with one or more of the shortlisted entries. It was a great opportunity to reward smaller scale initiatives that stood out because of their originality and effectiveness, and have made a real difference to the community.
Everyone in the room, including children from the school categories, shared a commitment to promoting sustainable choices as part of making London a better place to live, work and visit.
Unfortunately the three CCFfL projects did not win in their categories but many congratulations to all of them for being shortlisted.
