London launch for national cycling organisation promoting Dutch cycling facilities

On Saturday 3 September 2011, the Cycling Embassy of GB officially launches a new UK-wide collective of pro-cycling campaigners.

At 11.30am, the event starts with a speech by chair Jim Davis, followed by a tour of London's worst cycle lane on Lambeth Bridge, and a picnic in Victoria Tower Gardens from 1pm, to which attendees are invited to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks.

More details of the event can be found on the Cycling Embassy of GB website.

Recent indications are that the cycle lane on Lambeth Bridge will be widened by Transport for London, which has been criticised by cyclists from all over London for allowing such a poor quality lane to exist.

Incidentally, TfL were resurfacing Lambeth Bridge last night, so perhaps they will have made the cycle lane wider, which will be a surprise to those taking “a tour of London's worst cycle lane on Lambeth Bridge.” I didn’t cross it this morning, so do not know... we live in hope!
