Networking event for CCFfL projects
Over 30 project leaders and representatives of cycling organisations attended the community cycling networking event on 20th May.
Gathering at the Dragon Hall in Holborn, attendees were given the opportunity to meet fellow cyclists, learn more about LCC, and given a crash course in gaining media coverage.
After introduction rounds, Jo Adcock from Limelight Sports talked everyone through Bike Week and how to set up your own event. Some of the attendees had already organised events in the past and happily shared their experiences with the group.
Mike Cavenett, LCC’s communications officer, delivered a crash course in media relations. He covered how to contact journalists, write press releases, and build relationships with the local media to ensure maximum media attention for your community project.
His presentation will be available as .pdf document (to order your copy, contact the community cycling team on 020 7234 9310).
An official photographer was present and group pictures were taken which LCC intends to use in marketing and advertising CCFfL related activities and events.
Drinks and snacks were provided and all attendees left very positive feedback. LCC feels that it is important to link up individual community groups and also help them to build relationships with manufacturers and cycle training providers. With this in mind, LCC intends to organise more networking events over summer. Watch this space.
