Redbridge Cycle Centre opens

Just a few days after Britain's amazing cycle successes at the Olympics, London's biggest cycle centre was opened to the public.

The £4.5 million Redbridge Cycling Centre, a 2km circuit near Hainault, costs £3.50 for members of the public to use, and aims to encourage a new generation of Olympic hopefuls in time for 2012.

The first tangible benefit of hosting the 2012 games, the track provides an ideal training area for potential road race winners like Nicole Cooke, who took gold so spectacularly in the female road race in Beijing.
