Southwark Cyclists work with Jeremy Deller, Turner Prize winner

Whilst accepting the Turner Prize this week, British artist Jeremy Deller dedicated it to "everyone who cycles in London".

As part of the exhibit at Tate Britain, Southwark Cyclists lead by Barry Mason as Borough Coordinator have organised a team of volunteers to promote cycling. A dozen cyclists have enjoyed sessions in the Deller gallery, totally about 150 person hours in all.

The volunteers have talked to hundreds of interested visitors and given away cycling literature, which included:

  • London Cycle Guides

  • LCC membership forms

  • London Rough Guides

  • Southwark Cyclists Newletters

The Turner Prize is exhibited at Tate Britain, Millbank until 23rd December 2004.

Visit the BBC website for more information about the Turner Prize Award or the Southwark Cyclists' website for more information about how Southwark Cyclists have been involved.
