Brian Souter of Stagecoach and Will Butler-Adams of Brompton at Waterloo station
South-West trains have launched the pilot for a new bike hire scheme operating out of Waterloo station.
During February, March and April in 2009, first-class season-ticket holders are able to hire a Brompton folding bicycle free of charge.
Participants in the scheme are to keep the bikes, taking them to work, on the train, and home, or leaving them at the hire point at the station.
The pilot is intended to gauge demand for one-day and multi-day bike hire out of Waterloo, with a view to the hire scheme becoming a commercial enterprise later this year.
