This is a terrible loss to the LCC family. Barry was possibly the most committed and effective campaigner I ever met. There aren't many like him.

Of course, sympathies to his loved ones.

Very sad, and a shock. Barry was a great worker for cycling. David

Terrible terrible loss. A resilient and tenacious campaigner for everything he believed in. Every day, I use some facility or road layout or other which has been improved by Barry's input. Barry's work with the Dunwich Dynamo turned it into the most wonderful mass participation event with a wonderfully relaxed feel. His leadership of rides has helped so many people to overcome their fear of riding on London streets, and shown so many of us interesting and unregarded aspects of this city. The best tribute to Barry would be for us to just keep riding. To campaign for better facilities, and more community participation in improving our environment. To make more and more people aware of the joy of cycling. But most of all just to ride. Here's to Barry. Opinionated and cantankerous at times, definitely, but inspirational all the time.

Indded - great loss to both Southwark Cyclists  and LCC  - my fond memories of Barry go back to my early days in Southwark and I'm going to miss him a lot
