Got chased by a snarling Rottweiler! Whats best method of defence apart from cycling faster ?? This aint the first time either.

Thanks for your compassion and understanding! I cycle mainly off road and have encountered 6 different dog attacks this year!!! Twice bitten on foot! I was hoping for more practical help.
Well a water bottle is a very handy (harm free) way of repelling most dogs! Thats squirting water at them not throwing the bottle itself!
