Looking for people who love cycling & can help others get more active

I hope it's ok to post this type of thing here! Basically I work for Sustrans and we are looking for volunteers who love cycling and can help others make more of their every day journeys on the bike. There are lots of potential Champion activities but you might organise a travel clinic in work, or lead a group bike ride in the community or a put up a display board in university to let people know about local cycles routes.

The idea of the scheme is to tie into the energy around the Olympics to get the whole city active (rather than just the activity contained within the stadiums!)

Sustrans provides all the training and ongoing support to help Champions achieve their activities.

If you are interested to can read a bit more about it here:

I thought Sustrans were about creating traffic-free cycle and walking routes. That was the original idea of their charity anyway.

I'm sorry, but this initiative seems half-baked. There are already groups, like LCC and CTC, doing all these promotional things.

What we need is safe and effective cycling and walking infrastructure to get people to cycle and walk more, which is what Sustrans should be concentrating on. They have created some routes south of the river, but never achieved anything in N or W London.

What a rude reply. What exactly have Brent cyclists achieved that is so superior and gives you the right to be telling Sustrans what to do when they come on here asking for help?

Well *that* must be a record of some sort.
