Safer Lorries: Westminster only average
London cyclists are asking every council in London to take the Safer Lorries, Safer Cycling pledge to only use the best-equipped lorries and best-trained drivers.
Some councils have already taken action (see which on the LCC's map), but many aren't taking their responsibilities to cyclist safety seriously.
Westminster has arranged to provide on-bike cyclist-awareness training to its lorry drivers and it uses a contractor, Veolia, which has a programme to fit safety equipment to its vehicles. The LCC rates this at 2 out of 5 – about average for London boroughs.
