Freewheel is back as Mayor of London's Skyride

photo LCC volunteers send Boris Johnson a message at Freewheel 2008
Freewheel is back on Sunday 20 September 2009, renamed the Mayor of London's Skyride.
LCC is looking for volunteers to help lead rides and help marshal the event.
The event takes place the same weekend the Tour of Britain is in London, ensuring a packed weekend of cycling for the capital.
For the Skyride, LCC will be leading at least 60 rides (double 2008's total) from the outer boroughs to central London.
Experienced cyclists are encouraged to register using the form below. There will be an exclusive hospitality area with refreshments in St James’s Park for volunteers.
Enjoy many miles of traffic-free streets
Last year, Freewheel closed 10 miles of central London to motor vehicles, encouraging 50,000 people to enjoy the traffic-free streets.
The year's event will again see Olympic medallists, families and friends all riding together to celebrate cycling. LCC staff, volunteers and community groups all get in on the act too.
David Love, vice chair of LCC and architect of the first Freewheel said, “Skyride clearly demonstrates that when the mayor makes the streets truly cycle-friendly for families, they cycle in their tens of thousands."
Contact LCC using the form below for information about marshalling.
