Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) are a useful way to create an informal group of employees to lobby for better cycling facilities. They are often employer specific but also work at universities or schools with a mixture of students and staff.
BUG groups can decide what facilities or improvements would encourage more cycling and put together proposal for management, with some ideas of costs and the benefits that the improvements will bring. Employers may not know about free or reduced price cycle parking from local government or Cycle to Work schemes.
LCC’s Cycling Project team support workplaces and organsiations through our the London Cycling Network. The network brings together faciltiies managers, BUG groups and commuters across the capital and can help your workplace encourage (or at least not discourage) everyday cycling. We can help you setup a BUG group and let you know what services are available to increase the number of cyclists in your organisation.
