Almost three quarters of trips to work in London are under ten miles in length, and half the journeys are less than two miles. A bike is usually the fastest and most enjoyable way to get to work. And you don’t have to pay the congestion charge.
As London’s cycling routes and facilities improve, increasing number of commuters are using their bikes. The number of cyclists on the roads in central London has almost doubled over the past five years.
Cycle journeys to work now account for nearly 40% of all bike trips. Many employers are now keen to encourage their staff to cycle to work because it helps improve the health of a workforce and can save money.
