Helmet review: Bern Watts

BERN Watts

Taking its cue from skate-style helmets, the combination of hard plastic outer shell with EPS foam inner (approved to EN1078 standard) means the Watts offers excellent all-round head protection. Luckily clever design allows it to sit closer to the skull than most peers and avoid that ‘egghead’ look. There are small vents at the top and rear, but there’s no escaping the fact that this is a very warm helmet and a degree of clamminess will be unavoidable in all but the coolest months. Strap adjustment is simple and perhaps the neatest feature is the ability to swap the summer headband liner for a winter one with fleece ear-pieces (£30-£40). Available in 12 colours; sizes S-XXL. JK
