Ken launches LCC's All Ability Cycling Group

Mayor Ken Livingstone is to launch the London Cycling Campaign’s All Abilities Cycling Group on Tuesday 25 March. Cycles available for trying at the launch will include hand-cycles, tandems, recumbent cycles, the Duet wheelchair/cycle and side-by-side cycles.

LCC believes that cycling is possible for people of all abilities and that people are generally unaware of specialised cycles. The group is being established to help publicise cycling for all and to show that anyone can do it.

“The London Cycling Campaign wants a world class cycling city,” says Debbie Allaire, the group’s chair. “That means working with all sections of the community. Cycling is fun, it’s good exercise and convenient transport. Some disabled people cycle already, and we hope that this group will encourage many others.”

Ken Livingstone, Jenny Jones (Mayor’s Road Safety Ambassador) and the Group's Chair Debbie Allaire will start the launch at 10am at City Hall (for location details, click here). Visitors will be able to try specialised cycles until 1.30pm.
