LCC led rides take over 16,000 cyclists across London in 2014

London Cycling Campaign is the capital’s biggest provider of guided rides with over16,000 participants in 2014

2014 was a bumper year with over 16,000 people cycling on LCC organised rides. This makes LCC the biggest provider of free rides in London. In addition we helped an extra 977 people participate in led rides through our Community Cycle Fund for London programme which is funded by Transport for London.

The majority of rides were organised by volunteers in our 33 local groups who have been putting on rides for all abilities since LCC formed in 1978. These included rides for Ride London where we helped over 2000 people cycle from their borough into the Freecycle ride and back home again, as well as rides for students and council residents.

Guided and led ides are ideal ways for new or returning cyclists to build their confidence to cycle on London’s roads.  Putting on these led rides is a key part of LCC’s mission to get more of London cycling as well as campaigning for better and safer infrastructure. The skills and expertise of our volunteers and staff have helped LCC create a ride leader training course to help share this knowledge to enable more people to put on safe and enjoyable rides.
