Olympic and World champ leads Team LCC to victory at Street Velodrome’s first round

London Cycling Campaign celebrated last weekend as Team LCC rode to victory in the first heat of the SportPursuit StreetVelodrome Series 2014.

For those who haven’t seen it in action yet, StreetVelodrome is the World's only pop-up track, racing-style, cycle event; allowing it to tour and bring the racing experience and thrill of spectating to towns and cities across the UK. The 2014 series sees a combination of pros and amateurs come together in teams to compete across six rounds, and a great new competition format between the riders.

With the first heat taking place on Sunday 8th June in Stevenage, the early qualifying sessions saw amateur riders compete for a much coveted place in each of the four teams. London Cycling Campaign’s Team LCC saw amateurs Lorena Jones and Dave Jackson win their heats to join Craig MacLean MBE and fellow pro rider Adel Tyson Bloor. Olympic medallist MacLean was honoured in 2013 with an MBE for services to cycling (a fitting rider to compete on behalf of LCC!) and the track cyclist did a sterling job on the day, winning gold on behalf of Team LCC. Other successes came from Dave Jackson (Bronze), Adel (silver) and Lorena finished a credible fourth place, seeing Team LCC take the top spot.

You can see full race results from the first round on StreetVelodrome’s website
