Successful summer for cycle volunteers

LCC volunteer at the Tour de Hackney

The summer of 2008 broke all records for the number of people choosing to volunteer with LCC at cycling events.

The increased frequency and popularity of cycling events in the capital, such as the Tour de Hackney and the second Freewheel mass ride, meant loads more opportunities for LCC staff to get out and about, and for members and friends to get involved too.

With over 300 volunteers at Freewheel, 50 at the Tour de Hackney, and at least 50 more at other events over the summer, LCC has over 400 members and friends to thank in 2008.

Streamlining office opportunities

To open up the opportunities available in the LCC office, we're identifying areas in each department where potential volunteers could get involved in areas of interest to them, to use or enhance existing skills.

The details of these specific volunteer roles have yet to be finalised, but could include options such as membership, campaigning, community & local groups, fundraising, marketing, communications and photography.
