The Tour of Britain in London

The Tour of Britain returned after an absence of five years. Sixteen of the world's top professional cycling teams raced for five stages across Britain.

The five stages were in the North West, through Yorkshire, the East Midlands, South Wales, and finishing in the street of Westminster in London.

The programme of events for the final stage in London started at 10.15am on the Sunday with a series of pre-race cycling activities on the finishing straight in Whitehall.

The final stage of the Tour of Britain started at 3pm. The riders raced on a specially designed circuit of about one mile for a total of 45 laps. The race finished in Whitehall and was followed by the presentation ceremony where the Columbian Mauricio Ardilla was presented with the yellow jersey as overall winner.
