We're calling for safe, inclusive, accessible cycle routes between all areas of the borough and coherent connections to routes in adjacent boroughs
2022-2026 is a vital stage in London’s zero-carbon journey. Motor vehicles are the largest and most stubborn source of London’s emissions, and borough councils control 95% of the city’s roads. We need all our councils to act in the next four years and be bold – or it’ll be too late to get to zero carbon roads by 2030. That’s what’s needed for London and Richmond to do their bit.
That’s why we developed specific, personalised asks for each London borough council in the 2022 council elections to cut road transport emissions fast and enable lots more walking, cycling and wheeling.
Find out how they’re doing…
Every borough in London must take action now, to decarbonise London's roads by 2030. Get involved with campaigning in Richmond now. Because if they're not acting now, by 2026 it'll be too late to catch up on the climate crisis!
Pledged
Cllr Ehmann has given qualified support to all 5 asks, saying “The specific bullets… have been omitted because commitments on all these points is a level of detail, it is not possible to provide without officer, financial and other consideration.” The full statement from Cllr Ehmann will shortly be available at richmondcycling.org.uk
Did they pledge?
I’ve been cycling in London for years - it’s the best way to get about a city that is smaller and flatter than you might think from reading a tube map or sitting in traffic. I now have two young children and I want them and their friends to be safe and comfortable cycling around their neighbourhood. That’s what made me join the London Cycling Campaign.
