We're calling on Tower Hamlets Council to complete the cycle network on the highest priority routes to the highest standards.
Tower Hamlets campaigning asks for rapid, bold changes for people and planet.
2022-2026 is a vital stage in London’s zero-carbon journey. Motor vehicles are the largest and most stubborn source of London’s emissions, and borough councils control 95% of the city’s roads. We need all our councils to act in the next four years and be bold – or it’ll be too late to get to zero carbon roads by 2030. That’s what’s needed for London and Tower Hamlets to do their bit.
That’s why we developed specific, personalised asks for each London borough council in the 2022 council elections to cut road transport emissions fast and enable lots more walking, cycling and wheeling.

Pledged
I support the Tower Hamlets Living Streets and Tower Hamlets Wheelers combined 2022 election asks as a great foundation for what we want to do, making the borough safer and more sustainable for all.
Individual elements will need consultation to secure a good level of consent.
Did they pledge?
Since returning Mayor Lutfur Rahman’s Aspire party won control of the Tower Hamlets Council in the May 2022 council elections, they have already bulldozed a School Street play area in the dead of the night and attempted to remove millions of pounds of infrastructure to enable safer walking and cycling.
