A rivery journey East, West and North
Starting from Canada Water we will cycle on the Thames Path downstream nearly to Crossness, then start back by taking the Ridgeway, the Bazalgette companion to the Greenway on the other side of the Thames, to its western end in Plumstead and then on streets to Woolwich for lunch. After lunch we’ll ride back along the Thames to the Silvertown Tunnel Cycle Shuttle in Greenwich Peninsula. We’ll catch that to Royal Victoria Dock (it’s free) then visit a handful of treats and ride to Shadwell Overground station to return to Croydon.
The first leg to the shuttle bus is 18 miles and the second leg after crossing is 5.3 miles making the total distance 23.3 miles. We’ll have a half hour coffee stop in Trinity Buoy Wharf.
This is an all day ride really. We take the 10:18 at West Croydon and set off from Canada Water at 10:55. Our lunch break will be from 12:40 to 13:40 approximately, and we will be at the Shuttle stop at 2:15. The bus takes 8 bikes and runs every 12 minutes. If you can’t squeeze on just catch the next one. By 3pm we will be enjoying our coffee stop and around 4pm we will be at Shadwell station.
Meet at 10:10 West Croydon station platform 1 or 10:50 Canada Water station. Use the ramp from the car park to get onto the platforms at West Croydon.
