August Ride in Bexley
Join us on Sunday 17th of August 2025 at 10:00am for a free bike ride, a loop starting at New Eltham Station ( London bound side ). We ride to Beckenham Place Park in Lewisham and back.
This is a gently-paced, 20 mile ride accompanied by experienced LCC members, suitable for intermediate riders of all ages.
Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather and bring a snack and water.
Intermediate Ride
Distance: it is 10 miles each way.
Conditions may include: short bits on busier roads, some commuter routes so people can experience the ease of getting in to the city, routes through green spaces, along the canal etc, can include steeper sections and can include traffic lights etc
Conditions exclude: Longer stretches of busier roads without infrastructure, very complex junctions
Aimed at: People who are ready to cover a reasonable distance and mostly take responsibility for themselves but like the protection of the ride leader and the social setting
Pace: 8-10 mph
Duration: Circa 3.5 hours with a break
Participants should bring:
- Helmet if people wish to wear one
- Spare inner tube if on own bike (if you don’t have a spare that’s ok, try and buy one before the next ride)
- Water / snacks
- Gloves in winter
- Sunscreen in summer
- Appropriate clothing for the weather
- Money / card in case they want to buy something and for emergencies
- Lock if on own bike (a lot of people don’t bring locks but important if you go somewhere where you need to lock bikes up for example a museum visit or similar)
