Bexley Healthy Ride to Sutcliffe Park with a Twist.
From Danson Park we take a less familiar route to Falconwood, then the well ridden largely traffic free path downhill through Eltham towards Kidbrooke. Here we climb to visit a small park near Nelson Mandela Way, and then follow a twisty route over a narrow bridge at the railway station, and through Cator Park. We will have time for one or more loops within Sutcliffe Park, before returning mostly along the familiar route to Falconwood. Then unusually under or over the A2, passing the top of Hook Lane / Westwood Lane, and downhill to re-enter Danson Park by the gate next to St Johns Church which we passed on the way out.
A few more slopes than on the traditional route. Robert leading - he goes up slowly uphill, even with the help of a granny gear, so waiting at the top guaranteed. 11 miles, possibly more with extra optional loops within Sutcliffe Park.
There have been many changes in Kidbrooke in the last 50 - 100 years; for some of the history see https://thamesfacingeast.wordpress.com/tag/raf-kidbrooke/
