Sunday June 16 ride is to Keston Common for a wander around. We start from Queens Gardens and ride the Addiscombe Railway Park and Ashburton Park out and back then on a looping route to Keston Common which returns us to Queens Gardens. I expect we will be cycling for about 2 1/2 hours. We will have a refreshment stop in Keston near the Common and we will take time to walk around the Common’s lakes and enjoy the tranquil leafy setting.
There are dirt tracks and packed gravel paths in the Common and on South Norwood Country Park so 28mm tyres are the narrowest to ride on. The tracks are not so uneven that you can’t come on a road bike. So road bikes are ok if tyres are wide enough.
We will start from Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. The total time for the ride will be 4 hours to 4 1/2 hours, returning to Queens Gardens from 2 to 2.30pm.
Bring a bottle of water. Bring an inner tube. If the valve on your tires is Schrader (short and thick, same as a car tire) you will need a pump too.
