Essex Lanes, villages and the world's oldest wooden church 28 miles
The Central London Outdoor Group (CLOG) (founded 1937) http://www.clog.org.uk has one easy cycle rides in the countryside nearly every week between March and October ranging from 20 to 35 miles. These are easily accessible by public transport from London and are on quiet roads or cycle paths.
By bike we explore rivers, canals, forts, castles, coast, marshes, gardens, woods, ruins, churches, mansions, cycle-ferries, churchyards, villages, lost railways....

We cycle out of Roydon along National Cycle Route 1 along the cycle path Old Harlow stopping for morning tea at 7 miles at Mayfield Farm Bakery Tea Room. http://mayfieldfarmbakery.co.uk
Then back on our bikes, we cycle through Matching Tye and Matching Green, Abbess Roding, Little Laver to Moreton where we stop for lunch at the White Hart http://www.thewhitehartmoreton.co.uk at 18 miles
After lunch we cycle through lower Bobbinsworth and then onto Greensted where stop to visit the oldest wooden church in the world http://www.greenstedchurch.org.uk. St Andrews dates from 1060 and was built on the site of earlier churches dating from 6th and 7th centuries.
Then back on our bikes for the last 6 miles into Epping where we can catch the central line. Bikes are allowed on the Central line as far as Leyton as far as Leyton. From Leyton you can take the Q6 to Hackney Wick on the Overground or other routes home
Be on the train that leaves Stratford at 10:00 getting into Roydon at 10:39. Meet on the platform at Stratford or else just get on the train and meet at Roydon or join the train at one of the many other stations it stops at. Buy a single to Roydon : £7.45 with discount card

Note: This train is scheduled to leave from Platform 11. Stratford has 3 subways and you can only access platform 11 from 2 of them so if you can't find platform 11 just go along one of the other platforms to another subway and you will find it.
This ride is for adults rather than families.

• June 2018 Ruthr valley cycle route: Mountains, forests and lakes, historic cities and industrial heritage. Own bikes, Overnight ferry from Harwich and train
• Early July Baltic sea trail Lubeck to Stralsund. Own bikes, Overnight ferry from Harwich and train
• Late August Jutland.
• Late September Dolomites to Carinthian Lakes
