A short quiz:
What’s so interesting about the Horn Tavern in Knightrider Street?
What family lived in Bleeding Heart Yard?
Where did Dickens live while his father was in the Marshalsea?
And why was he rude about Clerkenwell Green?
Ride leader John S. will reveal the answers on this 13 mile ride starting and finishing at the Southwark Gateway Needle on the south side of London Bridge. Start 10am from London Bridge and head for Ludgate Hill and Fleet Street, before turning north for Clerkenwell via Saffron Hill. From there we return to Fleet Street via Gray’s Inn Road and stop for a coffee break at Aldwich. We cross Waterloo Bridge and follow Webber Street and Great Suffolk Street to Borough, and so back to London Bridge. Along the way we will stop very briefly to look at some places and buildings associated with Dickens.
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides organised by Southwark Cyclists, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.
