Ealing Cycling Campaign Leisurely Ride: Bermondsey & Southwark

Sunday December 3 2023 @ 9:45 am

Meet at Ealing Town Hall from 9.45am for a prompt 10am departure.

For our last Leisurely Ride of 2023, we are riding across London to visit some interesting sights around Bermondsey, have lunch in Southwark Park, and return to Ealing on the Elizabeth Line, either from Farringdon or from Paddington.

Places must be booked on the website. If you book a place and are then unable to attend, please contact us on rides@ealingcycling.org.uk so that your place can be cancelled and offered to someone else.

Please remember to bring your lights, as it will be dusk on our return ride and dark by the time we arrive back in Ealing. Bring a lock for your bike at the lunch stop.

From Ealing, we take our familiar route via Chiswick and Ravenscourt Park, with a brief pause in Holland Park, before reaching Kensington Gardens. We ride through the Royal Parks and Parliament Square, to cross the river on Westminster Bridge. We explore the quiet back roads of Southwark and Bermondsey, stopping to view several historic sights and contemporary artworks, including the Salter Statues on the river front. https://livinglondonhistory.com/dr-salters-daydream-a-very-moving-set-of-statues/ .

Our lunch stop is in Southwark Park, where the café offers a range of food, or you might prefer to bring your own lunch.

Our return ride takes us to Blackfriars Bridge, where we have the option of riding up to Farringdon, or continuing along the Embankment and back through the Royal Parks to Paddington, for Elizabeth Line services to Ealing.

Our total distance (to Paddington) is 43km/27 miles. We should return to Ealing by approx. 4pm.
