Ealing Cycling Campaign Leisurely Ride: Great Houses of Chiswick
Meet outside Ealing Town Hall from 9:45 am for a 10 am departure.
Visit two of the most striking buildings in our neighbour to the southeast. A roughly 20km/13 miles ride, mainly flat with some slopes and three short hills.
We ride out via Ealing Common to South Acton, where we visit several mosaic art pieces, culminating in the dazzling Mosaic House, the work of artist Carrie Reichardt and her colleagues https://carriereichardt.com/mosaic-house . From there we cross Acton Common via Fisher’s Lane, and take Duke Road down to the more traditionally stately Chiswick House and Gardens https://chiswickhouseandgardens.org.uk/ . Stop for lunch at the Chiswick House Café, peruse the stalls of the Duck Pond Market https://duckpondmarket.com/chiswick , or pack a picnic lunch to eat in the park.
We will return via a traffic-calmed route around Dukes Meadows, and take a newer section of Cycleway 9 to Brentford before riding back to Ealing. We should return to Ealing by 3pm.
