This is a pre-tour briefing ride only for those participants registered for the Grantham to Peterborough weekend tour taking place on Sat 12/Sun 13 April. You need to book your place on the tour separately: https://lcc.org.uk/events/ealing-cycling-campaign-weekend-cycle-tour-grantham-to-ely/
This pre-tour briefing ride is a train assisted ride from Ealing Broadway to Maidenhead.
Meet at Ealing Broadway Station on the westbound platform, in time to take the 10:26 Elizabeth Line service from Ealing Broadway to Maidenhead. Note that Freedom Passes are valid to Maidenhead, but Oyster cards are not valid beyond West Drayton, so you will have to pay for the entire journey using contactless (i.e. bank card or phone payment system).
On arriving at Maidenhead, we will follow National Cycle Route 4 (mainly off road, more or less beside the River Thames), and reach Windsor for a lunch stop. Here, we will provide further information about the route for the weekend tour, demonstrate some basic mechanical skills (changing inner tubes & putting the chain back on) as well as answering your questions.
After lunch, we ride on through Eton and use paths through Upton Court Park and Ditton Park, then quiet roads through Harmondsworth, Harlington and Cranford, reaching Norwood Green and the Grand Union Canal in Hanwell, returning to Ealing by approx 4pm.
This is a ride of approx. 42km/ 26 miles, the only hills being a few bridges over motorways.
