Essex cycling to the sea - actually the Blackwater Estuary 27 miles

The Central London Outdoor Group (CLOG) (founded 1937) https://www.clog.org.uk has an easy cycle ride in the countryside most weeks between March and October ranging from 20 to 35 miles. These are easily accessible by public transport from London and are on quiet roads or cycle paths.

We are aimed at adults rather than families.

By bike we explore rivers, canals, forts, castles, coast, marshes, gardens, woods, ruins, churches, mansions, cycle-ferries, churchyards, villages, lost railways....

Non members can come up to 3 cycle rides or other events to try us out before joining. To join CLOG, visit our website http://www.clog.org.uk and click on the orange join us button.

We also do around 20 trips away(weekend or longer) in the UK and abroad every year.

Essex cycling to the sea - actually the Blackwater Estuary 27 miles

We cycle out of Hatfield Peverell station on quiet roads, crossing the Chelmer-Blackwater Navigation and then Little Badlow, Curling Tye to the historic town of Maldon, home of the Thames sailing barges, where we will have lunch at one of the pubs or tearooms by the quay.

Then along Heybridge Basin by the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation to Colliers Reach, then north to Great Totham and more quiet lanes and back to Hatfield Peverell.

Meeting arrangements:

Be on the train that departs Stratford at 10:09 getting into Hatfield Peverell at 10:46. Get a Super Off-Peak Day return (£10.85 with discount card). The train starts from Liverpool St.

Buy a super off peak day return to Hatfield Peverel for £10.85 with a discount card (eg Network, Gold card, Senior etc). If anyone doesn't have a discount card, I can get up to 3 people the discount on my gold card if you get to Stratford early and find me. Or just get a Network Card (or Senior card if you are over 60) as it will soon pay for itself after a few journeys. http://www.network-railcard.co.uk
