A gentle ride in Enfield cycle paths and quiet roads aiming to introduce people to our local bike friendly routes and help them build confidence.
- This is a led and marshalled ride
- It is suitable for families and beginners.
- The pace is suitable for 6+ year old children but depending on competence and ability it could be doable by younger ones.
- There are two length options: 4.5 miles / 7.5 Km and 7.5 mile/12 Km (see options below)
- We are expecting a two hour ride, depending on the stops
Please note that no unattended children or adults are risk can participate in this ride.
They need to be accompanied by an adult that will be responsible for them at all times.
When and where
The ride is on the 18th of August 2024. Options and start points:
- Pymmes park, bike library (map 🌎) – Meet 10:15 for a 10:30 start – 7.5 mile/12 Km long
- Firs Farm Wetlands cafĂ© (map 🌎) – Meet 10:45 for an 11:00 start – 4.5 miles / 7.5 Km long
We can also pick up people at Green Lanes & Fox Lane – The Fox – (map🌎) – Meet 11:15 for 11:30 start Please note that we will not be returning back there.
The route
- The route follows cycle lanes, park shared paths and quite roads
- There are some very gentle slopes in the first part as we are heading to Grovelands park
- The second part is mostly downhill back to the Firs Farm Wetlands
- Toilet and coffee stops will be at Firs Farm Wetlands Café.
Preparation
- You will need a roadworthy bicycle. Please make sure you go through the ABC checks
- Carry water and a snack if you need
- Dress appropriately for the weather. Sunscreen may be required if it’s sunny or waterproof if there is a chance for rain. We will send an update the night before.
