Flat Kent Ride
A train assisted ride.
A good ride for developing more stamina, for those who can ride 20 miles and want to move on. We grade this a moderate ride. Moderate pace. We will wait for everyone, but to finish in daylight and include a lunch stop, you should be able to keep to an average speed of around 11 to 12mph. If you’re in doubt, give the ride leader a call or text. The aim of this ride is to be as inclusive as possible. If you are reasonably fit and ride regularly, eg do a daily commute of five miles or more and have ridden 20 or thirty miles a few times before, then this average on a relatively flat ride should not be too much of a problem.
Train leaves Crofton Park at 8.37. Also stops at Catford, and stations to Bromley South. Goes to Sevenoaks where it connects with the 9.13 to Paddock Wood. Arrives there just before 10am.
The ride leaves the station. Is around 50 to 60 miles, depending on how you feel! Possible to leave ride early at Headcorn. Quiet lanes mostly. Largely flat, with one optional Hill at the end, which you can miss out if necessary! off road park routes plus quieter back streets. Suitable for any regular rider with a reasonable level of fitness. If you’re in doubt about that, or have particular health issues, please contact ride leader beforehand. We’ll stop for lunch in a pub at just past the halfway mark. Hard to say when ride will finish, but hope to be back at Paddock Wood around 5pm, if all goes smoothly.
