A gently paced, sociable, marshalled ride to Wanstead Park.
Our rides normally begin in Wanstead Park so if you live in the south of the borough, do join us to enjoy a safe cycle route to Wanstead Park. If you have not visited Wanstead Park, this is your opportunity to explore the park and learn a little about the history of the park.
We will set off from Goodmayes Park (Emerald Cafe) at 11.00am and from South Park (South Park Drive/South Park Crescent corner – near to the toilet block) at 11.30am. We will have time for lunch in Wanstead Park. There is a Tea Hut that serves sandwiches, snacks and drinks but please feel free to bring your own picnic. If the weather is good, we will leave the park around 2.00pm and be back around 3.00pm in South Park and 3.30pm in Goodmayes Park. The total return distance is about 10 miles/15 km.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Our rides are suitable for novice riders, those returning to cycling and anyone wishing to build confidence to explore further on a bike. Marshals ensure safe crossings at junctions. They will also help with any breakdowns if necessary. We recommend that you ensure your brakes are working and that tyres are fully inflated before you set off. It does help if you have a spare inner tube for your wheel size.
