This ride is about 30 miles, mainly flat with some small hills. Mostly paved surfaces. We will be riding at a slow leisurely pace, approximately 10-12 m/h. Good fitness is required. We will cross north of the river via Greenwich Foot Tunnel. Please note that the lifts might not work and you must carry your bike down and up some stairs.
Last week, we cycled to Greenwich via C14 and C4. This week, we will use a different route via quiet streets and some cycle paths. Our main destination for this ride is Trinity Buoy Wharf. This Sunday is the last day of “Open House 2024: discover Trinity Buoy Wharf”. The full program of the event can be found here.
You can also visit the lighthouse, where you can hear Longplayer . Longplayer is a one-thousand-year-long musical composition. It began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue to play without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again. Conceived and composed by Jem Finer, it was originally produced as an Artangel commission and is now in the care of the Longplayer Trust.
We will stop for refreshments at Trinity Buoy Wharf. We expect to start cycling back to Brook Green at about 4 pm. We expect to return to Brook Green at about 6-6:30 pm.
