A 50 mile moderate paced social ride in the Hertfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire countryside. Meet at 9am outside national rail ticket office at London Bridge Station in main concourse. The ride leader will be on the 9.16 train from London Bridge which is meant to arrive at Royston around 10.41. We will ride through some pretty villages, mostly on quiet country lanes, but since there are some busier sections this is a ride for experienced riders. However, it will not be fast, we will wait for everyone and there are fewer climbs than on our Kent and Surrey rides. There are a couple of hills and at least one fast descent. We climb hills slowly and do try to stick to a rolling average of around 16kph which means a bit faster than that on the flat and descents. I’d like if possible to be back at Cambridge Station for the return train at about 4pm so that should allow plenty of time for a decent lunch stop, photographs etc.
Please make sure you bring spare inner tubes, snacks and weather appropriate clothing. Also ensure your bike is prepared. Sunset is later now, but in case of any issues that might make us later than expected, bring lights for your homeward journey from the station.
