Marshal training for Women’s Freedom Ride – After Dark!
What do we want? Freedom to ride! When do we want it? After dark!
This fun protest ride will ‘highlight’ that many parts of London’s official cycle network aren’t safe after dark, especially for women.
Marshal training
This marshal training is designed specifically for this after dark event. It is not mandatory to attend the training if you have already received marshal training or if you have lots of experience. But it is mandatory to attend the zoom call and rehearsal ride. If you can’t make those, contact the ride leader Mariam through the LCC office by email mike.mcsherry@lcc.org.uk and if we can we’ll make other arrangements for you.
This session will take place outdoors in the setting of the ride so please dress appropriately for the weather and bring lights and if possible backup lights.
The training is scheduled for 2 hours but may take a little longer to complete.
Bring:
– A road-worthy bike and lock
– Warm and waterproof clothes
– Lights with plenty of charge and/or backup lights
– You don’t need previous experience but you do need to be a confident and competent rider. As a minimum you should be able to ride comfortably one handed whilst also maneuvering obstacles, communicating and looking all-around
– You should have a calm and inclusive manner
– Hi-viz clothing and helmets are optional, but if you choose to wear a helmet it must be warn properly (we can advise about this)
