Merton CC Equinox Ride: a lap of the Borough
Join us for a gentle shimmy around the Merton Borough boundaries. We see everything from light industry, to manicured (and not-so-manicured) nature, to outright opulence.
We’ll kick off from The Sultan shortly after 10 and head first along the Wandsworth boundary (Wandle Trail to Earlsfield, then West to Wimbledon Common) before splitting into on-road and off-road groups. Reunited outside Kings School, we’ll abut our neighbours in Kingston until we turn East just after crossing the A24 near Sutton. Next up, a catalogue of roads-you-never-ride before rejoining the Wandle Trail in Poulter Park. The undiscovered pleasures of Mitcham take us through the Town Centre and Eastfields, turning for home just after we cross the railway between Streatham Common and Tooting. Before we know it we’ll be back at The Sultan for light refreshments.
19 miles all the way around. I expect we’ll take 2.5 – 3 hours. It’ll be slow pedalling, so bring warmer clothes than you’d normally wear for the distance/weather. Water and light snacks also recommended, however we don’t leave civilisation so there will be a chance to stop en route for supplies if necessary.
