Romney Marsh and Dungeness

London Bridge 8.25 for 8.49 train to Ashford (map)
A ride from Ashford across the ancient haunt of smugglers, Romney Marsh, stopping on the way at a 15th century pub, out to the wild and lonely shingle of Dungeness, the largest in Europe and Britain's only desert. If you have never visited this unique British landscape, you should not miss this. Visit Derek Jarman's home and garden, Prospect House, the lighthouses and miniature railway.
