There is a ridge running from Sydenham Hill to Beulah Hill where you can cycle for 4 km at just over 100m altitude. 3 issues. 1. You have to climb up a steep hill to get on to the ridge. 2. Most of the road along the ridge is busy with no cycle infrastructure. 3. Because it is all built up and there are lots of trees you get next to no views. But it is a nice challenge for a Saturday morning.
Start/finish Dulwich clock Café, middle of Dulwich Park. 10 am start, 1.30 finish. 10 mile circuit so leaving lots of time to walk the steep bits. Uphill start to Horniman Museum, then steep Sydenham Rise and Hill. Make sure your lowest gear is working! Once at the top a level ride along the ridge to Crystal Palace Parade and on to the top of Beulah Hill. Ridge ends there and we will drop down to have a look at Grangewood Park. Return by climbing back up to the top of Beulah Hill then descending along a spur to the corner of Streatham Common, then more lovely downhill to West Norwood and back to Dulwich. Will fit in a coffee stop somewhere. Route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1P3S1ZC2C7jOVILN16J7r6CuidCVHM-s&usp=sharing
