Waterlink Way and Hilly Fields Summer Fayre

Ride: Waterlink Way and Hilly Fields Summer Fayre When: Saturday 22 June 2013 Meet: 10:00 @ Cutty Sark Gardens, SE10 9LW (by foot tunnel entrance)
My final contribution to NotBikeWeek™ 2013, brought to you by the esteemed South East London Commissariat for Social Cycle Rides Planning (aka the Dog & Bell Crew), will be a short pootle along the Waterlink Way as far as South Norwood Country Park.
The ride will end not at the start point in Greenwich, but rather with a visit to the Hilly Fields Summer Fayre in Brockley, the Jewel of South London, where the doughty comrades of Lewisham Cyclists shall have a stall complete with Dr Bike mechanic. The total distance is around 25 kilometres or 125 furlongs, and much of the ride is off-road, along the banks of the rivers Ravensbourne and Pool.
The reason for such an uncharacteristically short ride from me is that on Saturday night/Sunday morning I will be helping guide the VelonotteAlbertina nighttime architectural ride through the heart of the Victorian Great Wen, and need to save my energy for that.
The Waterlink Way route takes us along Deptford Creek, and thence onto the River Ravensbourne to Lewisham. We rejoin the river in Ladywell, continue south to Catford, and follow the River Pool to Beckenham. After that it's around the houses southwest to South Norwood Country Park. The park café should be open, but bring snacks and something to drink in case it isn't.
The return from South Norwood Country Park follows the same route north, but after Ladywell Fields we turn west to Hilly Fields.
Please ensure that your bikes are in working order, with tyres pumped up hard and free of embedded debris that could cause punctures. Bring a couple of spare inner tubes, puncture repair materials, water and snacks, and lights in case of poor visibility.
RSVP, but it's OK to turn up unannounced on the day.
