Mission. To cycle from Waterloo Station to Richmond Park, Richmond Bridge, Marble Hill, Eel Pie Island and Twickenham Station from where we will catch a train back to Waterloo Station.
Coordinating Instructions and Timings. Riders will meet at 9.30am on Saturday 29th June 2024 outside and under the Waterloo Station Victory Arch that is 50 yards up on the right from where York Road meets Mepham Street and Cab Road. A short safety brief will be given at the meeting RV point before departing. We envisage being back at Waterloo by approximately 3pm trains permitting.
Route. This is a relaxed and social ride that involves some very enjoyable cycling in stages for about 20 miles. Much of our route is on quiet, vehicle-free roads with some use of riverside paths.
Checks and Equipment Riders are advised to pre-check their bikes before the ride. ABC bike safety checks. Air/Brakes/Chain/Drive. Also check for play in wheels. Riders are further advised to bring: – a warm fleece, waterproofs, puncture canister, bike lock, bike pump and water bottle.
Rations and Water. There will be a coffee stop and we will lunch at Pembroke Lodge Café in Richmond Park. Riders are also welcome to bring their own picnic lunch/snack should they wish.
